The weather was chilly on this cloudy spring day, making the Diamonds especially appreciative of their wool uniforms. A small group of spectators witnessed the season's opening match. The teams battled evenly for the first four rounds, before the Diamonds broke loose scoring seven tallies in the last three innings. This resulted in a 9 - 3 victory for the visitors! Splendid outfield play by Diamond ballists Adler, Jones, and Olson was apparent to all in attendance, while infielders J. Rossbach and M. Rossbach capably protected the middle. Strikers S. Perkins, R. Perkins, and Schiebel produced many Diamonds' base knocks and tallies. Hurler Hoffman's skilled tosses whitewashed the Dead Citys in all but two rounds, making it a gem of a team victory for the Diamonds. The Dead Citys were excellent hosts always displaying the highest level of sportsmanship and goodwill towards the opposition and the cranks. The teams are scheduled for a spirited rematch at Eagle on July 21st at 1:30pm sharp!
