The blue and white ballists from south of the state line, tapped the dish twice in the first round to take an early edge. Behind the solid support of their cranks, they added a third ace before erupting for four more tallies in the fifth frame. Lovas, the barrister, confidently handled rule clarifications as questions arose related to variations in the Illinois rules of the game. The Diamonds pounded out eleven base knocks before finally avoiding a total whitewash by the Marauders' hurler. In the ninth round, Goyette, Eagle's behind, contributed a safe knock and was then driven across the dish by S. Perkins' double. S. Perkins, Allen, and Goyette led the Diamond strikers. The Rockford team was most appreciative of the opportunity to explore the Eagle area... and to return to their city on the Rock with an 8 to 1 triumph.
