As the sun peaked in the Eagle sky, the cranks eagerly awaited the arrival of the Diamonds' adversaries. It was later learned that the Gs encountered travel delays on the plank road north of the state border. But, the red-clad Ogle County nine persevered and came determined to extend its best effort. The Ds tallied in the opening frame as the ever fleet-footed Allen hit the dish following knocks by Rohlof and M. Rossbach. Diamond newcomer Walsh added one in the second round before Allen, Rohlof, and the Rossbach brothers let loose with their ashes for three more tallies. Meanwhile, inning after inning rookie hurler J. Rossbach and the Diamond scouts and tenders whitewashed the Ganymede club, finally claiming a 6 - 0 victory. The local cranks extended the right hand of fellowship to ballist Frank, the club's new captain. Now adorned in the coveted blue striped socks, Frank capably succeeds hurler Hoffman, one of the club's founders who moved on to Indiana to play with the Millers. The winners wished the Ganymedes safe travels in their homeward journey.
