If you're unable to schedule a school tour, let us bring the museum to you! Choose from a variety of Educational Outreach programs including: • Coming to America. Decide whether you'd stay or move away as you pack a 19th century immigrant trunk and compare people of the past with today's immigrants' challenges. • From Sheep to Sweater. This program is all about wool and the way people use it to make the things we wear. For younger grades, a story-telling sheep shares a humorous tale. For older grades, an excerpt by Laura Ingalls Wilder will introduce students to the many uses of wool. • Old-Fashioned Games. Get up and get moving! Your techno-savvy students of the 21st century will delight to try toys, puzzles, and games that their great-grandparents used to enjoy. • History in a Box. Don't know where to begin? Experiment with unusual artifacts as you try to guess what they are. Learn how we "do" history at Old World Wisconsin and how kids can become historians at home. • A Runaway Slave's Story. A story-teller from an old-time community shares all the neighborhood news - including the tale of a family of former slaves who made a new life in Wisconsin, and even sent their daughter to college! |
