![]() For more than 20 years, the Old World Wisconsin Foundation has been dedicated to the support of Old World Wisconsin, funding over 5 million dollars in support. In that time, the museum has transformed from a handful of historic buildings into the largest outdoor living history museum of rural life in the country. Amongst the 67 historic 19th and early 20th century buildings, gathered from across the state, are the homes, barns, shops, schools, churches and meeting halls of our immigrant past, for Old World has a special charge: To tell the story of the immigrant experience. To facilitate that, Old World has over 100 historic breed animals and nearly 50,000 artifacts. It's a testament to the lives of those who came before us. With the help of skilled interpreters and dedicated volunteers, the stories of our collective heritage are preserved and shared with the thousands of descendants of immigrants - and with the many new immigrants - who come to the museum every year to encounter, explore and experience what it was like to become an American over a hundred years ago. |
